We have recently trialled the Drymatic Boost boxes supplied by DBK Technitherm and found them to be an excellent solution to the problem of safely getting heat into a building.
In a recent claim in Edzell, Aberdeenshire we were faced with a common difficulty.
A nearby stream had breached its banks causing water to flood into a development of around 20 modern detached properties. The water had entered the solums via the air bricks reaching a height of around 12 inches. This caused water damage to the joists and saturated large areas of the under floor glass wool insulation.
Crucially there was no sign of water ingress to the living areas of the property, our client had no desire to be unnecessarily disturbed and wanted to avoid any major strip out of flooring.
With the use of standard air movers and 3 boost boxes we were able to dry out the solum, joists and insulation within a matter of weeks. The only disruption to the householder was the cutting of inspection hatches to correctly position the equipment. The air movers created the air flow and the Boost boxes provided the heat required to remove the residual moisture within the insulation.
In contrast, neighbours were moved out and significant strip outs were authorised. It is estimated these claims will be around £35,000 with significant disruption, alternative accommodation, storage costs and increased claim lifecycle.
Our solution reduced the claim period to under 6 weeks, allowed the client to remain in the property and significantly reduced the total claim spend to around £6,000.
